How to use the Chakras in Everyday Life: Heart

One of my favorite song lyrics is “Speak your heart, don’t bite your tongue.” The heart chakra (Anahata in Sanskrit) is the gateway that connects the physical to the spiritual, let’s find out about this special place shall we?

All About the Heart

The heart chakra is located at the center of our chest and is associated with the color green. It is a magnetic field that is in charge with the energy of divine love and abundance (how we receive/give it).

It is important to balance our heart chakra because it allows us to experience unconditional love, connect at a deep level, and appreciate the beauty that life brings.

Signs of Imbalance

Here are signs that your heart chakra may be imbalanced:

  • Holding grudges/challenging to forgive others
  • Struggle to give/receive love freely
  • Constant sense of heaviness in the chest
  • Tend to have many self-critical thoughts
  • Constantly replaying/reliving traumas
  • Commonly jealous
  • Feel needy in relationships
  • Feel distant in relationships
  • Fear of being alone
  • Self worth is measured by others
  • Mistrusting/suspicious of others
  • Victim mind-state
  • Antisocial
  • Fear of intimacy

Balancing the Heart Chakra

If you do these practices everyday (or as often as possible), you will feel unconditional love for yourself and all that life brings!

Chanting the root chakras mantra “YAM” while placing this mudra (prayer position in front of heart)

Meditating while envisioning the color green at the your chest brightening with each breath.

Envisioning white light pouring into your heart chakra. This white light represents the infinite amount of love that the universe has. Realize during this meditation, that we always have access to this love.

Eating green/raw foods such as: kale, cucumber, celery, avocado, zucchini, green apple, green tea, lime, mint, spirulina, kiwi, parsley, green smoothies/juices

Essential Oils

Give yourself some lovin’ with oils such as

Jasmine, Rose, Yarrow, Everlasting, and Amyris

Connect with nature-Forgive-Wear green clothes-Write down what you’re grateful for-Remember what you love-Pranayama-Give more hugs-Look in the mirror and say “I love you” sincerely-Do shadow work-Breathe deeper-Focus on the present

Affirmations can be spoken out loud or silently in your mind. Affirmations are charged when you state them several times (at least three) while feeling that what is stated is true.

I forgive myself

I forgive others

I am fully open to receiving love

I am fully open to giving love

I am grateful for all my blessings

I am creating loving and supporting relationships

I love myself unconditionally

I love others unconditionally

With a balanced heart chakra, we become the lovers we are meant to be. Spread love, see love, feel love, BE LOVE! <3
