How to use the Chakras in Everyday Life: Throat

We’ve made it past the heart gateway! Now we are on to the three chakras that represent the spiritual. First is the throat chakra (Vishuddha in Sanskrit) which guides us with communicating our truth out to the world!

The throat chakra is located at our neck and is associated with the color blue. It allows us to express our emotions and thoughts.

It is important to balance our throat chakra because it allows us to take our expression (sacral chakra) to the next level. With a balanced throat chakra, we are able to project ourselves to the world in our most authentic way.


Signs of Imbalance

Here are signs that your throat chakra may be imbalanced:

  • Lying
  • Struggle to verbalize thoughts
  • Hard to express emotions
  • Over-opinionated
  • Actions don’t align with words
  • Struggle to have own voice
  • Shy
  • Anxious in conversations
  • Keep lots of secrets from others (from fear of acceptance)
  • Enter relationships that don’t allow you to have a voice of your own
  • Not being able to listen to others

Balancing the Throat Chakra

If you do these practices everyday (or as often as possible), you will become a master communicator!

Chanting/Meditationthroatedit

Chanting the root chakras mantra “HAM” while placing this mudra (grab left thumb with right hand, touch right thumb on left index finger place against throat)

Meditating while envisioning the color blue at the your throat brightening with each breath.

Foods

Eating blue/throat soothing foods such as: blueberries, blackberries, coconut water, herbal teas, raw honey, and  lemon

Essential Oils

 Enhance your communication with oils such as 

Peppermint, Spearmint, Cypress, Basil, and Spearmint

Activities

Sing-Speak honesty-Drink water-Receive a neck/shoulder massage-Hip opening exercises-Write a journal-Chanting-Wear Blue-Lion’s Breath

Affirmations

Affirmations can be spoken out loud or silently in your mind. Affirmations are charged when you state them several times (at least three) while feeling that what is stated is true. 

I speak my truth freely and openly.

I express my love and goodness each time I speak.

I express my gratitude towards life.

I express myself with clarity and confidence.

I listen to others with compassion.

I acknowledge that my words create my reality.

I can say ‘no’ when it is necessary.


With a balanced throat chakra, we are able to communicate our truth confidently, listen with compassion, and have pure thoughts.
