How to Use the Chakras in Everyday Life: Sacral

The second chakra is responsible for our emotions and creativity. It is known as the Sacral chakra (Svadhishthana in Sanskrit)! Let’s get to know the sacral, shall we?

All About the Sacral

e66ea7feecbbfe578b3f0ef88b52bf29

The sacral chakra is associated with our emotional body, creativity, and sensuality. It helps us relate to others and the world around us. It’s color is orange and is located in the pelvic area. The energy of the sacral moves like water and has a flow. The feeling of pleasure is linked to our sacral chakra.

While the root chakra is the foundation of our overall being, the sacral chakra is the foundation of our feeling of well-being. It connects us to our senses.

Signs of Imbalance

Here are signs that your sacral chakra may be imbalanced:

  • Overindulgence in fantasies/sexual obsessions
  • Lack of sexual desire/satisfaction
  • Feeling stuck in a particular feeling/mood
  • Feeling out of touch with feelings
  • Letting emotions control you/Super reactive to situations
  • Depending on people/outside things (alcohol, drugs, food, work, etc) for pleasure
  • Constantly fatigued
  • Holding back from expressing true feelings and desires
  • Creatively blocked/overthinking

How to Use the Chakras in Everyday Life: Root

Welcome to the first chakra in our series! The root chakra (Muladhara in Sanskrit) is the foundation for the rest. It allows us to make living our everyday lives easier. Here’s how below!

All About the Root Image result for root chakra

The root chakra is located at the base of our spine and is associated with the color red and our digestive tract. It is in charge of our physical experiences/needs such as food, shelter, and water. It regulates mental needs such as trust, security, survival, and our instincts.

It is important to balance our root chakra because it is the anchor/foundation of the higher chakras. When our root chakra falls out of balance, it may cause more difficulty connecting to the outer world.

How to Use the Chakras in Everyday Life: Introduction

When it comes to spirituality, chakras are one of the most common things mentioned. These energy centers are being used at every moment! My purpose in the next set of articles, is to bring an understanding that chakras are used everyday.

What are chakras?

At every second of the day, prana or life energy is spinning and moving throughout our body. Chakras (Sanskrit word meaning “wheel”) are centers in our body in which energy flows through the most. They are a part of our energetic body, and not our physical body. There are numerous amount of chakras, however we mainly focus on the main seven within the body. These seven are: Root, Sacral, Solar Plexus, Heart, Throat, Third Eye, and Crown.

Keeping all of our chakras balanced allows us to feel grounded and able to function in our everyday lives. When one of our chakras are imbalanced, the other chakras are also affected. It is important to keep our chakras from being under-active or overactive. Being aware of the characteristics of our chakras and making choices that harmonize them creates balance.

Heart: Do I feel that I am open to receiving love?

Third Eye: Do I trust my intuition?

Crown: Do I take time for myself to recharge, relax, and just be?

How to Make 2019 the Best Year Ever

We made it to another year! 2018 was the year of (11), which brought transformations and shifts that assisted with aligning us to the best version of ourselves. Now, we are in the year of 2019 (3). 3 in numerology is about creativity, self-expression, inspiring others/inspiration, fun, and connection. How do we use 2019’s energy of 3 to bring the best year yet? Here’s how!

1. Live your Truth

What is your truth? We all have a particular connection to the universe, that makes every one of us unique. The most important factor in self-expression is being grounded within our inner truth. When we are living our truth and aware of who we are, it is harder to be affected by what doesn’t reflect our truth. Do at least one thing every day that fuels your inner truth and keeps it in tact. At times, the universe will test by bringing what is the opposite of our truth. Shifting your mind to see the truth within everything allows you to continuously manifest what is true to you.

(Ex: In the book The Science of Getting Rich, Wallace D Wattles states:

“Every appearance in the visible world tends to produce a corresponding form in the mind which observes it; and this can only be prevented by holding the thought of the TRUTH. [..] To think health when surrounded by the appearances of disease, or to think riches when in the midst of appearances of poverty, requires power; but he who acquires this power becomes a MASTER MIND. He can conquer fate; he can have what he wants.“)

2. Have Gratitude

Last year, I learned the importance of having gratitude from just being alive. Gratitude is a beautiful energy that brings a close connection to source (God, the Creator, Allah, etc.) when it is genuinely felt. When we focus on what we are grateful for, the universe brings MORE things to be grateful for. When we feel gratitude for “good and bad” (which are really subjective) situations, this allows us to become neutral and detached from outcomes in our life.

Ways to Have Gratitude:

  • Write a list of things your grateful for and read it everyday/Write a different list of things your grateful for everyday
  • Say affirmations for gratitude every morning (Ex:”I experience gratitude for everything I have in my life.”)
  • Thanking others and yourself more often, even if it’s just for existing!

3. Live One Day at a Time

Focusing on the past and future can feel a bit overwhelming at times, causing anxiety. The best thing we can do for ourselves, is whatever we are doing at this very moment. Taking life one day at a time not only makes it easier to function, it also helps manifest our dreams. It turns our goals into actual plans.

Ways to live one day at a time:

  • Ask “What can I do right now that reflects my goals in life?”
  • Making a list of plans for the year, and doing actions that fit
  • Remove past happenings from your focus
  • At moments of overthinking, focus on something in your surroundings
  • Mind your business (Literally and figuratively) others paths and situations are irrelevant to your achievement

4. Set an Intention

A phrase that reminds me of intention is, “It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.” Intentions are the reason why two people can do the same action and get different results. Having intentions for our actions and decisions gives us foundation and direction for our lives. Setting an intention gives us something to remember as we are going through a progress. An example of this is going to an event with the intention of making new friends. Since you set this intention, it results in you being more sociable and open to others that are there, making it easier to achieve your intention.

5. Reflect Daily

Why wait until the end of the year to reflect on your life? It is common for us to wait until peak moments in the year to reflect on life. Reflecting  each day, allows us to see what actions we need to shift to bring forth what we want. It helps us see where we are going, and if we are going in the direction we want to. Scheduling a time for reflection allows us to make this a continuous practice in our lives. Having a set of questions to ask yourself in advance helps with preparation for when the time comes. Here are a few examples!

Things to Reflect On:

  • How was I feeling today?
  • What am I grateful for? [#2 coming in handy!]
  • What healthy decisions did I make today?
  • What unhealthy decisions did I make today? What caused these decisions?
  • Am I achieving the goals that I set for myself today? If not, why?
  • What do I want to remember from today for tomorrow/next week/next time ____ happens?
  • How could I have been more effective doing ____?
  • Why did I respond ____ towards ____?
  • What did I learn from ____? [Insert situation/interaction/experience]

Follow this list and you’re sure to have an amazing year. (I sure will be!) Instead of waiting for a great year, create it. <3

Full Moon in Cancer Spread/Reading

This following reading is provided by my amazing friend Nea! She is a beautiful spirit and blessed us with a reading about the Full Moon.

I interpret this spread as being a representation of the fullness of the moon. Here are the questions being asked:
1. What is the Theme for this full moon in this season?
2. What have we already accomplished?
3. What is worth continuing?
4. What needs to be released?
5. Cancer Lessons: How can we nurture ourselves (in body, heart, spirit) and our home (family, community, environment)?
6. Where are we currently in this cycle?
IMG_1494
1. 8 of Cups (Reversed)
 – We see a person journeying. Their back is turned and they are leaving their cups behind. The Moon peers overhead with a face that appears either smug or disinterested in the mission of this person despite having an eye on them. This card represents feelings of abandonment or walking away from a situation seen as disappointing. Reversed, we are deciding whether this situation is right for us and whether this is something we should carry on with or finally let go and move on. The Theme for our Cancer Full Moon is to tune deep into our intuition as we weigh the pros and cons of our situation so that we may finally remedy the question, “Should we stay, or should we go?”
2. Page of Cups
 – Thankfully, the tools that we have managed to assemble in preparation for this Full Moon is the Page of Cups. The Page represents the amateur – they are full of excitement and passion though may come off as cocky or a little unstable in their path. I also interpret this card as “beginner’s luck”. The energy however is still very fresh and potent. The fish in the Page’s cup represents the ideas that have come from the depths of our creativity and emotion. Our intuition is at a high and we tap into ourselves with ease and excitement. The Page greets these ideas happily!
3. 10 of Swords
 – The 10 of Swords depicts quite the sorrowful scene. Our hearts go out to this fallen hero, pinned face down into the ground by ten swords. Who would deserve such fate! I saw “pinned” and not “stabbed” because you’ll notice if you look closer that these swords aren’t piercing through our subject’s flesh. Rather they appear to be sitting atop of their back weighing them down into the ground. We are being called on to address our pain – from our disappointments and losses. The water Cancer Full Moon has us emotionally vulnerable, laying bare to our fears, insecurities, and the things in life that may give us emotional lows. Remember though that when we may be grieving or feeling victimized, we ultimately get to decide if we will continue to stay this way. It is your choice. You decide how your emotions will guide your actions from this point on. Change is inevitable and in our pool of emotions, stirring and changing currents is as unpredictable and daunting as it is healing and affirming to your experiences. You choose the currents, my darlings. And take YOUR time.
4. 6 of Swords
 – RELEASE THE BAGGAGE. RELEASE YOUR PAIN. The 10 of Swords already informed us that this is inevitable. The Cancer Full Moon wants us to explore our depths and bring them to the surface for light to be shined on them. Releasing pain is hard. And leaving it behind may be even harder. But 6 of Swords shows promise of a better future in the foreground as we leave all that burdens us. Some we will still continue to carry with us but like the 6 of Swords, this pain does not sink our boat. Rather as we release, we transform our ailments into lessons to take with us into our future.
5. 9 of Wands
 – We have trekked this weary path of our enlightenment. It has been hard, heavy, we have face trials and formicables that have tried our strength and patience. 9 of Wands is the final test: Are you ready to confront the final boss of this stage? If you’ve made it this far, the answer is yes. You are. The task is not yet over, but you don’t have to go into this completely exhausted. Cancer Full Moon calls for us to nurture our being by protecting our energy. Fortify the power that is within you, validate yourself and your struggles. Have friends and community that can do the same for you. There comes a time where we all find it hard to stand on our own two feet. We are strong and determined and we will do the damn thing but having people in our corner to cheer us on in the midst of the fight is important! You deserve that! Don’t forget your tribe and the love that you have attracted in your life this far. They are a reflected of you and your best attributes! Think of you and your community as a super fusion of love and strength! Rest and be in love. Protect it and preserve it.
6. 2 of Cups (Reversed)
 – Currently, we may be facing some disharmony in our relationships to others and maybe within ourselves. Perhaps you’ve found it difficult to communicate your feelings to others. Maybe there are barriers that you or the other person has set up, and it is causing feelings of isolation or perhaps selfishness. If we want these barriers lifted, there must be an honest flow of communication happening from both sides. Only then can we allow the healing and unification of our bodies in self and in partnership to flow.

Astrology: The Major Aspects

Recently, a friend of mine asked what aspects mean in astrology. This inspired me to create a blog post that discusses what each major aspect means. Aspects are the distance between the planets within your chart; they explain how your planets are reacting to each other in your inner galactic party.

ConjunctIMG_1296

(Same sign/ 0 apart)

Keyword: Blending

Conjunction in your chart are when two planets are journeying together. Because they are so close, their energies blend. It causes a high dosage of whatever energy the planets represent, and magnifies whatever house and sign they are placed within.

OppositeIMG_1298

(6 signs apart / 180 apart)

Keywords: Balance, Polarity

When two planets are opposing each other in your chart, it’s the areas of life where more balance is needed. Opposing planets can be like two people who aren’t agreeing. With compromising and bringing balance to both sides, an amazing connection is created.

Opposing Signs:

Aries – Libra

Taurus – Scorpio

Gemini – Sagittarius

Cancer – Capricorn

Leo – Aquarius

Virgo – Pisces

TrineIMG_1297

(4 signs apart / 120 apart / Same element)

Keywords: Luck, Harmony, Easy

Trines are amazing to have within your chart. A trine represents energy running smoothly between the planets. Trines bring luck and opportunity without much effort needed. (Sometimes this little to no effort may cause laziness!)

Trine Signs:

Fire: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Earth: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Air: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

Water: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

SquareIMG_1294

(Three signs apart / 90 apart / Shares same quality *cardinal, mutable, fixed*)

Keywords: Conflict/Tension

An easy way to remember the square aspect is by connecting the term “Square up.” Squares represents conflict between two planets. If you have a square within your chart, that is the area where there is tension and issues. It takes more effort to bring flow, and when effort is done over time, it manifests as rewards in your path.

Squares:
Aries – Cancer, Capricorn

Taurus- Leo, Aquarius

Gemini- Virgo, Pisces

Cancer – Libra, Aries

Leo – Scorpio, Taurus

Virgo – Sagittarius, Gemini

Libra – Capricorn, Cancer

Scorpio – Aquarius, Leo

Sagittarius – Pisces, Virgo

Capricorn – Aries, Libra

Aquarius – Taurus, Scorpio

Pisces – Gemini, Sagittarius

SextileIMG_1295

(2 signs apart /60 apart)

Keywords: Flow, Cooperation

Sextiles are like planets making love within your chart. The planets are flowing together are compatible and are either both in Earth/Water or Fire/Air. They may create new opportunities and possibilities with this bond. (Sextiles are not as strong as Trines, and in your chart represents areas that have the least amount of stress)

Sextile Signs:

Aries: Gemini, Aquarius

Taurus: Cancer, Pisces

Gemini: Leo, Aries

Cancer: Virgo, Taurus

Leo: Libra, Gemini

Virgo: Scorpio, Cancer

Libra: Sagittarius, Leo

Scorpio: Capricorn, Virgo

Sagittarius: Aquarius, Libra

Capricorn: Pisces, Scorpio

Aquarius: Aries, Sagittarius

Pisces: Taurus, Capricorn

In my next blog post, I will discuss the elements in astrology! Stay tuned 🙂

Why Optimism Is Important

OPTIMISM

The most beautiful rainbows come after a heavy storm. Diamonds are created by pressure. These natural phenomenas remind me of the roller coaster of life. Here’s why optimism (while still being realistic) is important:

What is Optimism?

According to Merriam Webster, optimism is:

1: a doctrine that this world is the best possible world

2: an inclination to put the most favorable construction upon actions and events or to anticipate the best possible outcome

Optimism is when we think positively, even when in rough situations.

How can I be optimistic?

  • Change Thinking Habits. When we notice our thoughts imagining/thinking of the worst outcomes in situations, we can instead reframe our mind to instead think of a better/more logical outcome. (Ex: A performer thinking about falling on stage reframes their mind to think giving their best performance instead.)
  • Shift Reasons. A common habit I notice in us human beings is we feel our best when multiple blessings happen, and when we are faced with one “bad” situation, our positive outlook goes out the window. Giving ourselves negative feedback, and believing we have “bad luck” or that something outside of us has caused ___, is removing our minds from productivity and finding a solution. When shifting the reason to seeing that everything happens for a reason and this is a situation that needs resolving, brings us to a mind-state that focuses on finding a solution, and correcting the situation.
  • Take “Failure” What separates optimistic and pessimistic people are how they react to failure. The most successful people are the ones who have failed and kept going. They took failure as a lesson in learning how to improve. Seeing every failure and set back as a lesson and not a defeat, helps us to keep going forward.
  • Spend Time with Optimistic People. The people you hang out with the most are the ones who are having the most impact on your subconscious. Hanging out with people that are usually complaining or having a negative perspective on life, will cause our minds to think similarly more frequently. Spending more time with those who are optimistic, helps us to view life in a more positive uplifting way ourselves.
  • Confidence is Key. Being optimistic means being confident in where we are. The most confident people always believe in themselves and where they are headed. Having confidence and believing in ourselves, makes what we do feel unstoppable.

*Being Realistic and Optimistic*

Optimism can cause ignorance and a naive nature. Some people that are optimistic will continuously think positive about situations, and believe that only that will make challenges disappear and blessings come.

To avoid this outcome, being a realistic optimist is key:

  • Expect the Unexpected. Life will always throw unexpected situations at us. Rather than being caught off guard when moments don’t seem to work out, remember that we have all the inner tools to solve them.
  • Be Positive and Honest. While shifting our thoughts from being pessimistic to optimistic, it is good to also be honest about what is challenging us. When imagining outcomes we would like to have, be aware of the actions it takes to get there.
  • Success comes with Action. Having confidence in succeeding obstacles is a great start. Using action is what brings success. Planning, being persistent, choosing the right strategies, and staying focused is what manifests the success we feel.

Conclusion

Optimism is key. It leads to a more positive lifestyle, and brings better outcomes. When combining being realistic and optimistic, that is when our manifestation is taken to the next level. Obstacles and challenges are no longer hold backs, and instead are ways we evolve our actions and thinking.

5 Secrets to Use the Law of Attraction with Words

Words are used everyday. We use words to think, speak, and write. Did you know that words have an enormous effect on your current life? This blog post explains how:

Importance of Words

  • Words carry vibration and energy. When we speak, we are bringing our inner thoughts and vibrations into the physical world. The energy within the words may either cause harmony or disharmony. This is the reason why certain words make us feel good, while others do the opposite.
  • Words hold meaning. Every word has a definition. Definitions of words give meaning to the vibration that the sound holds. The meaning is what causes whatever is spoken to be attracted. (For example: Merriam Websters definition of Crazy is full of cracks or flaws , be mindful of who labels themselves as crazy!)

Applying to Life

Now that you know that words aren’t just sounds we use to say what’s on our mind, here’s ways you can be a mindful communicator:

Think before you speak. What are your intentions for what you’re going to say? Will it lead to harmony or disharmony?
Research words commonly used. Our vocabulary influences how we communicate everyday. Knowing the definitions of the words we commonly use gives us clarity on whether what we say are empowering us or leading us to a life of disharmony. (Example in picture below: Very recently I found out what the word spend means!) *Merriam Webster is the best source for definitions*
Speak what you want. It’s no coincidence that affirmations are commonly used to attract what we want. Because words are energy, they can be used to align us with the energy that leads us to what we want in life.
Choose what you consume wisely. Consuming isn’t only with food. What we see, hear, and feel every day is also consumed. What are the messages in the songs you listen to? The videos you watch? The books you read? (Or articles) What are conversations you have usually about? This let’s you know what you’re attracting through unconscious consumption.
Choose love. When love is the foundation of our intention, our lives transform. Words are suddenly filled with life and harmony that people will feel. Choosing love aligns us with more conversations that are focused on resolution.

Conclusion

In conclusion, words are more than sounds and symbols. They are energy that we use to summarize what vibrations we have inside/are attracting. If we use words mindfully, we can attract and feel what we desire, rather than bringing disharmony. Next time you have a conversation, be mindful of the words that are said and the effect they have.

Astrology: Connecting with the Gemini Full Moon

It’s full moon season, the time when the moon reveals our innermost feelings. The moons placement is in currently Gemini, the first air sign that focuses on the mental world.

What is a Gemini Full Moon?

The moons placement is in Gemini, a mutable air sign. Gemini is a sign that is about the mental world. We use our mind to form thoughts, learn new information, have communication, and analyze/process the world around us. Gemini’s mutable energy allows it to experience multiple perspectives at once (twins), giving it a more objective and lighthearted view to life. During Gemini full moons is the best time to analyze the habits of our mind and how it’s influencing our behavior.

What transits are happening?

At this particular time, our experiences may not feel as deep and “dark” due to Jupiter and the Sun now being in Sagittarius. Both Sag and Gemini has energy that is mental/philosophical, fun, playful, curious, and expansive. Jupiter moving from Scorpio to Sagittarius shifted our spiritual growth from being mostly about shedding our shadows and old wounds, to finding our truth with what we have learned from shedding.

Mercury (which is in retrograde) is also in Sagittarius and is squaring Neptune (currently in Pisces) which may affect mind, causing misinterpretation, and having strong unconscious/unintentional effects in communication.

How do I connect to this energy?

It is time to focus on the mental realm. Gemini’s full moon is charged by Mercury, bringing extra focus to our minds.

Our mental state manifests our physical state. Now is the time to shift how you are using your mind every day.

It is helpful to ask ourselves questions such as:

  • Why do I believe what I believe?
  • Why do I usually respond this way?
  • What caused me to have this perception of ___?

Sagittarius energy combined with Neptune in Pisces gives us an expansive connection to our higher minds. It is the perfect time to use our imagination and visualize where we want to be next in our lives that is aligned with our inner truths.

It is easy to get caught in the fast paced society we are in, and when we take the moment to slow down and go within, that is when the answers to our questions of life begin to appear. Use whatever outlet helps you communicate with the innermost parts of yourself, whether it’s journaling, writing a song, meditating with an intention in mind, and/or praying to a higher power (higher self/ancestors/God/etc.).

May your dance with the moon bring you mental clarity that leads to further enlightenment on the path to self righteousness.
